What it does
The Pipeline shows your contacts as cards arranged in columns, one column per stage. You can:
- See how many contacts sit at each stage and their estimated value.
- Move a contact to a different stage in a couple of clicks.
- Click straight through to any contact's full page.
Where to find it
In the top header, click Clients ▾ then Pipeline.
URL: /dashboard/pipeline
The stages
The board has five columns, left to right, matching the journey a customer takes:
- Leads — someone you've come across or who's shown a flicker of interest, but hasn't asked for anything yet. The top of the funnel.
- Requests — they've actively asked for a quote or a job. A warm enquiry to act on.
- Active clients — paying customers you're doing (or have done) work for.
- Inactive — past clients who've gone quiet — worth a re-engagement nudge.
- Lost — leads or clients who said no, or that you've written off.
Each column header shows a count of how many contacts are currently in that stage.
Step by step
Read the board
- Each card shows the contact's name, their business name (if any), their source (e.g. Referral), and their estimated value in pounds.
- Scroll sideways if your screen is narrow — the columns sit in a horizontal row.
Move a contact between stages
- Find the contact's card in its current column.
- On the card, click the small stage dropdown (it shows the current stage).
- Choose the new stage from the list.
- The change saves immediately — a "Moved to <stage>" message appears and the card jumps to the new column.
You don't drag cards; you simply pick the new stage from the dropdown on each card.
Open a contact
Click the contact's name on any card to open their full contact detail page, where you can log interactions, add quotes and more.
What each screen shows
- Page heading — "Pipeline" with a one-line reminder of what the board is for.
- Five columns — Leads, Requests, Active clients, Inactive, Lost — each with a count badge.
- Contact cards — name, business, source, estimated value and the stage dropdown.
- Empty columns — a column with no contacts shows a dashed "No contacts" placeholder.
- Empty board — if you have no contacts at all, you'll see a panel reading "Your pipeline is empty" inviting you to add contacts and move them through the stages.
Tips & good to know
- Moving a contact here changes the same status field you'd set on the contact form or in bulk on the Contacts list — it's all one value, just shown differently.
- Use estimated value on each contact so the board doubles as a rough forecast of what's in your pipeline.
- The board shows all your contacts grouped by stage; for searching, sorting and filtering, use the Contacts list instead.
- Keeping the board tidy (moving won jobs to Active clients, dead leads to Lost) keeps your funnel honest.
Troubleshooting
- My change didn't stick / an error appeared — the move failed to save (often a brief connection issue). The card stays put and an error message shows; try the dropdown again.
- A contact is in the wrong column — just use its stage dropdown to move it; there's no separate "save" step.
- The board is empty — you have no contacts yet. Add some from the Contacts list and they'll appear here.
